Siemens' third quarter net profit increased by 12% year-on-year on the afternoon of July 29 Beijing time. According to foreign media reports, Siemens' financial report released today showed that the company's third quarter net profit increased by 12% year-on-year, and its sales also increased for the first time in nearly seven quarters, marking that the company has got rid of the shadow of the economic crisis and resumed growth

in the third fiscal quarter ended June 30, Siemens achieved a net profit of 1.41 billion euros (about $1.83 billion), up from 1.26 billion euros in the same period last year

Siemens' operating profit in the fourth core sector, such as energy, industry and healthcare, increased by 40% in the third quarter, reaching a record 2.33 billion euros. As part of the € 2billion cost reduction plan, Siemens had previously cut 12600 jobs

Siemens' core business sales revenue in the third quarter was 19.17 billion euros, an increase of 4% year-on-year; Total orders reached 20.87 billion euros, an increase of 22% year-on-year

Peter loesc, CEO of Siemens, said: Siemens gained more momentum in the third quarter. At the same time, when the future prospects are foreseeable, the operating profit has also reached a record high, significantly higher than the level of the same period last year

Siemens is a barometer of the global manufacturing industry. The company has 402000 employees in 190 countries and regions around the world, and its products range from medical devices, transportation, factory automation equipment and power turbines. Like General Electric of the United States and Philips of the Netherlands, Siemens also suffered a decline in orders during the economic crisis

Siemens' performance exceeded analysts' expectations. Analysts had previously estimated on average that Siemens' core business operating profit in the third quarter was 2.09 billion euros and revenue was 18.58 billion euros

Siemens also reiterated that its annual operating profit in major areas exceeded the expectation of 7.5 billion euros in 2009. Siemens' fiscal year ends on September 30 of each year
